Certification - I am a certified HIT Pro Workflow and Information Management Redesign Specialist (Certificate No. 246144804), and Implementation Support Specialist in Healthcare IT (Certificate No. 242752588).

The course of study leading to these certifications was sponsored and directed by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) of Health Information Technology at the Department of Health and Human Services, and scholarships funded by the federal HITECH Act and ARRA.

The HIT Workforce Development Program is designed specifically to raise a highly-skilled, highly-trained workforce to assist in the nationwide implementation of electronic health records systems (EHR/EMR).  Part of this mission is to assist healthcare providers to meet "Meaningful Use" standards in EHR implementation, while in the process helping them to qualify for federal stimulus money ear-marked for such HIT implementation.

By meeting federal "Meaningful Use" standards, individual healthcare providers can qualify for up to $44,000 in federal stimulus money to assist them with (federally mandated) EHR implementation.
